A niece of Phoebe Wade, and 1st cousin to Mary Cecilia Rogers, she was the daughter of Lay Mather and Caroline Wade. Lay Mather was the brother of Capt. Ezra Mather, the first husband of Phoebe Wade; and Carolina Wade was the sister of Phoebe Wade.
