Biography

Daniel C. Payne was the brother of John Payne (1797-1869), both recent immigrants from England and stone cutters.

10 am: while shaving in his room, Mary knocked at his door and told him she was going to Mrs. Downing's, he advised he would meet her on return, as they had done previously, at about dark at the corner of Broadway and Ann Streets.
