THE WILDE-QUEENSBERRY CASE
DATE OF THE HEARING ARRANGED

The libel case in which the Marquis of Queensberry and Mr. Oscar Wilde are concerned was the subject of an application at the Old Bailey this morning. Mr. C. Gill said he had an application to make in respect of the Wilde-Queensberry libel suit. At the police-court it was stated that an effort would be made to justify the expressions made use of upon the post-card complained of. This case, in the ordinary course of events, would stand over until the next Sessions, but both parties were desirous of bringing the matter to trial. He had communicated with his friends on the other side, and they were willing that the case should come on on Wednesday of next week, if his lordship would acquiesce - In agreeing to this course being taken, Mr. Justice Collins remarked that the case was one of which it was very desirable to dispose of - The proceedings in which a considerable amount of interest was manifested, occupied only a few moments.
