I grew up amongst furniture, and I’ve never left it. In the heart of London, people don’t buy just to sit.

Young men with new flats, and they all want character. A retro armchair, gives them that.

One battered club chair was claimed for a Notting Hill film set, and ten years on it looked better than ever. That’s what vintage means.

People wander past the big chains, but sooner or later they return. Gloss wears off, whereas real furniture stays.

Every part of London tells a different story. Hampstead seeks calm, armchair funky with mahogany accent pieces. Camden stays chaotic, with retro mismatches. That’s the reality.

I’ll tell you something else, the right piece will define a home. Mass production never delivers it.

I still sit to see how it feels, stylish upholstered seating and the right piece never lies. Old furniture lives.

If you’re thinking quick buy, take a breath. Choose a funky accent chair, and let it settle into your life.
